People generally want to know what they are working towards. That they are contributing to something bigger than themselves. This is highlighted in times of change. People need a clear vision of what the future might be like; and what steps they need to take to get there. Very often this information is made available, but in "business-speak". It is important here to provide a translation service so that people know exactly where they are headed; how they might be impacted and what is expected of them. They may require additional tools/competencies; for some you may have to create a "burning platform"; but in all cases they need to know how what they do, can influence the bigger picture starting with the first steps.
